How to use PDF to Image

  1. 1

    Upload your PDF

Click the upload area or drop a PDF file. The tool accepts standard PDF files - password-protected PDFs are not supported.

  2. 2

    Set render scale

Choose 2× for screen-quality output (144 DPI) or 3-4× for print-quality. Higher scale takes longer but produces sharper images.

  3. 3

    Render to PNG

Click Render to PNG. Each page is rendered using PDF.js and encoded as a lossless PNG. A progress bar shows the rendering progress.

  4. 4

    Download

Download individual pages by clicking the download icon on each thumbnail, or download all pages as a ZIP archive.

When you need images from a PDF

PDFs are the standard format for documents that need to be distributed as a single file, but they are not always the right format for what comes next. Uploading to a social media post, embedding in a web page, including in a presentation, or sending a specific page via messaging all require image files, not PDF. Extracting pages as PNG images gives you individual files you can place, resize, and share independently of a PDF viewer.

PDF content that was originally scanned from paper, or generated from a design tool as vector artwork, renders clearly as a PNG at the right scale. For screen display, a 2x render scale provides 144 DPI which is clear on most monitors. For content intended to be printed or read at close range, a 3x or 4x scale gives sufficient resolution to retain fine text and line detail.

Handling large and multi-page documents

Each page in the PDF becomes a separate PNG file. For multi-page documents, a ZIP download collects all pages into a single archive for convenient transfer. There is no page limit, though very long documents with complex layouts will take proportionally longer to render. The render happens entirely within the browser, so processing speed depends on the device - rendering a 50-page document at 4x scale will take longer on a phone than on a desktop computer. To go the other direction and bundle images into a PDF, the image to PDF tool lets you combine multiple images into a single document.
